Sensational Spectacular Amazing Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Story
Peter Parker finished putting on a pair of purple gloves and sat down at his desk to get to work on his pet project: Creating an industrial solvent that would revolutionize the industry and make them millions. Spider silk was a multi-million dollar industry and he intended to cash in with his invention. There were so many potential applications! Webbing up buildings to make them safer during Earthquakes or creating stronger lines for window washers or climbers or airplanes or even potentially body armor! The future was written in webbing and Peter was going to be the author.
First! he poured 10ml of Polysorbate 89 into a small funnel that would lead into a beaker, followed by 10ml of 99% Isoproyl Alcohol. Next, he poured those from the beaker into a Soda bottle preform cartridge. Setting that down, he added in 6g of Polymethyl Methacrylate, shaking it a bit to get everything out before setting down and placing a top on the cartridge, securing it tightly and then shaking the concoction up a bit to mix it up. Then, he added in in 15ml of 134a Refrigerant and took a look at his concoction before shaking it up a bit more. He waited a minute or two to ensure it reached a liquid esque state before switching out the cap, placing another one on it and squeezing the cartridge a bit. The result was a spray of white webbing-esque silly string around his desk. Peter laughed as he sprayed it around the little sheet on his desk. "Hahahahahaaaa! Oh man this is too cool! Too cool!" He soon stopped spraying it and took the top off and with it a long interconnected solid sticky string of it. "Well now! It's safe to this works!" He set it down on the sheet and he turned to a camera.
"Hello Peter! This is Peter! Coming to you live from my room! As you have just seen, the formula worked like a charm. Between this and my earlier formula of mixing 1,6-Hexanediamine and Sebacoyl chloride, I think I am really onto something. I'm on the right track here and if I can find a way to combine the two formulas we'll be golden. Now, of course, Nylon is a nucleophilic substitution condensation reaction with the amine nitrogen displacing the chlorine on the sebacoyl. The problem is I will need a reactant to make this all work...also, also, the reaction would release an HC1 gas...which would be bad." Peter crossed his legs, put one elbow on a knee and wiggled his fingers against his chin while he thought this out. "Spider web is actually repeat amino acid sequences strung into a more complex macro structure...silks, as well as many other biomaterials, have a hierarchical structure (e. g. , cellulose, hair). The primary structure is its amino acid sequence, mainly consisting of highly repetitive glycine and alanine blocks, which is why silks are often referred to as a block co-polymer.
For a spider web type thing, you'd want proteins. If you want proteins, you want amino acids. If you want amino acids, you want amino groups. If you want amino groups, you want nitrogen. I could make some homemade nitrogen but I'll need to borrow the lab materials. Luckily MSST* has practically everything I need."

Peter lowered his hands and clapped them together. "So it's settled then. I'll need to borrow and or buy dry ice, 99% rubbing alcohol or methanol and a plastic container and then I'll need to pour the alcohol into said plastic container and nest this container inside a bucket of dry ice. Boom. Homemade nitrogen that I can hopefully use to get my amino groups." He rubbed his hands. "I'm on the fast track, I just know it. I just need to keep the momentum going. I'll let you know when I manage to get everything together. This is Peter Parker. Signing off." He turned off the recorder and his camera and then he got to work on cleaning up his room lab.
The door opened and an older gentleman wearing a nice suit and with combed back hair and a nice beard on his face stepped into the room. "Up and at 'em Peter! It's time for-Oh. You're already awake I see. What's all this?"

Peter lowered the sheet with the mixture on it into a glass case and then he placed the lid on it before turning around and smiling. "Good Morning Uncle Ben! Is it Morning already? Huh. Time flies. Anyway though! Good morning Uncle Ben! Just doing some science! You know how it is."

"Uh huh. You didn't miss out on sleep did you?"
"No no. Nooo. Naaah not me. I just woke up early is all."
"Alright good to know. Tlel youw hat, I'll drive you so you can get some extra sleep. It'll be our little secret."
"Oh man thank you so much Uncle Ben."
"Happy to help kiddo." He patted him on the shoulder. "How are those scrapes treating you?"
"Ahhh it's fine. They're just a few bruises. I'm fine, really. I'll be okay." Peter assured him. Peter was a genius kid who'd switched to Midtown School of Science and Technology after it was made clear that he was over qualified for normal school and he'd started making waves at his new school. He was a good looking young man with a genius mind and a bright future. Unfortunately a few days ago he'd committed the unholy sin of going for a walk and minding his own business and one Eugene Thompson sought to correct this by jumping Peter and giving him a few fond reminders of their relationship at his old school: Violent Thug and Victim. Eugene's favorite game.
Peter had escaped but not without a few souvenirs around his face.
"Look, forget him. Eugene's a loser." Peter assured his uncle. "I'm going to be famous one day Uncle Ben and I'm going to give you and May the lives you deserve and we'll be living large and he'll be a footnote at best."
"I'm happy to see you're aiming high but you don't have to worry about us so much, Peter. We've got it good here. We're happy with what we've got. You should use your talents to take care of yourself and others of course but don't forget where you came from Peter. Remember what Octavius said on TV."
"Intelligence is not a privilege, it's a gift. And you use it for the good of mankind. I know. And you guys are of course part of mankind so I am going to use my intelligence to take care of you guys for life."
"Aim for the top but don't forget who you are kid. That's all we ask." Ben hugged his nephew close. "We love you Peter."
"Love you too, Uncle Ben."
After a moment he stepped back and ruffled his son's hair. "Now get yourself a shower and come on down for breakfast. May's making banana pancakes."
"Awesome! I'll be right down!"
The two high-fived and Ben stepped out so Peter could get changed.
